A severe housing shortage was in place before COVID-19 arrived and the pandemic has magnified the problem. Over the past nine months, city parks filled up with people who had nowhere else to live. When the order to STAY AT HOME was issued, those among us who are without homes wondered how we could stay at home when we had no home? Many levels of government have done much to help – but is it enough?

Let us come together to talk about our vision to end homelessness and share our ideas for how to make that a reality. Let us come together to mobilize power to do what it takes to make a safe HOME a reality for everyone.

MICAH will present its legislative agenda, we will hear from a member of our community directly affected by the housing shortage, and look at ways we can provide safe housing for all through actions at the state, county and municipal levels. We will ask our elected officials to share their visions and their commitments to action.

MICAH’s strength comes from bringing together people of faith to act on their values to support affordable housing, undo racism and build regional equity, opportunity, and housing choice. The voices of our MICAH faith leaders across our region are daily making our vision of a metropolitan area where everyone, without exception, has a safe, decent, and affordable place to call home. This vision is realized by bringing people together as we continue to advocate for a stronger regional housing policy at the Metropolitan Council and the Cities.
