The Consortium of Lake Area Senior Services (CLASS) aims to increase dementia awareness in the Northeast Metro with its new initiative: Creating Dementia Friendly Communities. A campaign to tackle the stigma and lack of understanding around dementia is underway with the support of CLASS.
The following Dementia Friendly Advocacy Statement was adopted in 2019:
People of all capabilities are valuable and vital members of the community. CLASS supports public and private creation of Dementia Friendly Communities which:Â
promote early diagnosis and quality care;
offer memory loss services and supports;
are made up of businesses with dementia-informed services and environments for customers and employee caregivers;
provide dementia-aware local government services, planning and emergency responses. Â
We advocate for the supports needed for aging in community. We raise up seniors to be their own voice and participate in these discussions, public and private.
